Secured QR (SQRC)

Secured QR — SQRC — is a variant of the Quick Response Code with reading-restriction capability, used in applications where access to the encoded payload must be controlled.

Restricted reading

An SQRC symbol carries a public-readable portion and a restricted portion. The restricted portion is decodable only by scanners provisioned with the appropriate cryptographic key. Standard scanners observing an SQRC symbol read only the public portion.

Application

SQRC is used in employee credentials, access cards, and applications where a single printed symbol must serve both a public lookup function and a private credential function. The variant is documented by Denso Wave and is supported by SQRC-capable scanner hardware and software.
