Frame QR
Frame QR is a variant of the Quick Response Code that reserves a designated canvas area within the symbol for graphics, text, or illustration.
Reserved canvas
Frame QR defines a canvas region within the symbol where artwork may be placed without disturbing the decodability of the surrounding data modules. The error-correction allocation is adjusted to compensate for the absence of data in the canvas region.
Application
Frame QR is used in marketing applications where the symbol must carry a brand mark or illustration as well as the encoded payload. It is the formally-specified mechanism by which artwork and the Quick Response Code symbology may coexist; ad-hoc overlay of artwork on a standard symbol relies on error correction to absorb the overlay and is not specified by ISO/IEC 18004.
