Scope

GS1 QR specifies how GS1 identifiers — the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC), the Global Location Number (GLN), and others — together with GS1 Application Identifiers, are carried within a Quick Response Code symbol. The symbology itself remains ISO/IEC 18004; GS1 QR governs payload conventions and the use of the GS1 Function-1 character to signal a GS1-formatted payload.

Use

GS1 QR is widely used in healthcare product identification, retail product labeling that pairs identifier and link, and supply-chain applications that combine a primary identifier with batch, lot, or expiration metadata.
